About RLO

A lesbian community built for connection, care, and growth

The Real Lesbians (RLO) is a community where women who love women build meaningful friendships, strengthen their relationships, and care for their mental wellness. We bring together relationship coaching, professional counseling referrals, community events, and educational resources in one welcoming space — so queer women never have to figure out connection, healing, or growth alone.

Our mission

Our mission is simple: help lesbian and queer women build healthy friendships and relationships while prioritizing mental wellness. We exist to offer genuine lesbian support — not a dating app, not a swipe culture, but a real community where women show up for one another. Every part of RLO, from our relationship coaching to our educational resources, is designed to help you feel less alone and more equipped to nurture the connections that matter.

Why we exist

Loneliness is a public health issue, and it hits LGBTQ communities especially hard. Many queer women grow up without role models for healthy relationships, face family rejection, or live in places where being open isn't safe. The result is real: LGBTQ mental health challenges — anxiety, depression, isolation — are more common, and lesbian mental health often goes unsupported because mainstream wellness spaces aren't built with queer women in mind.

We built RLO because lesbian friendships and support groups shouldn't be hard to find. Women deserve a space where they can talk about relationships, mental health, identity, and growth without explaining or defending who they are. That space is RLO.

How our community helps

RLO brings together four pillars that support women's mental wellness and connection:

Relationship coaching and counseling support

Our lesbian coaching program offers individual, couples, and group coaching for communication, breakups, self-growth, and more. When professional therapy is what you need, our consultation process connects you with licensed counselors through lesbian counseling referrals — handled with care, privacy, and respect for licensing rules.

Community events

From coffee meetups and brunches to hikes and book clubs, our lesbian events help you meet queer women in person and online. Events are where online community turns into real friendship — the heart of how RLO fights loneliness.

Wellness tools

Daily check-ins, streaks, quests, and connection milestones turn small habits into real progress. These tools are self-paced reflections for women's mental wellness — never a diagnosis or a ranking.

Educational resources

Our resource library offers articles, worksheets, and guides on communication, boundaries, attachment, coming out, and building healthy relationships — free and premium content for every stage.

Scholarships funded through memberships

Every Premium membership does more than unlock coaching, events, and resources — it funds mental health scholarships for lesbian and queer women who couldn't otherwise afford support. When you join, you're not only investing in your own growth; you're helping another woman access the care she deserves. See membership plans or donate directly.

Who founded RLO Community

RLO was founded by women in the community who felt the gap firsthand — the search for real lesbian friendship, for relationship guidance that actually understood queer women, and for a safe place to talk about mental health. What started as a small group wanting genuine connection grew into a platform built by and for women who love women. You can read the full narrative on the Our Story tab.

Our long-term vision

We envision a world where every queer woman has access to community, coaching, and mental health support — regardless of where she lives or what she can pay. Long term, RLO aims to be the trusted home for lesbian support groups, relationship education, and women's mental wellness, while expanding the scholarships our members make possible.

That means growing our events into more cities, deepening our coaching and counseling offerings, and keeping the community safe, member-led, and grounded in care. Join the community or get involved as a volunteer.
